YEAR 11 1AWPL / 1BWPL
Automatically studied with Career and Enterprise
Workplace Learning, 1AWPL and 1BWPL are the practical application component to Career and Enterprise 1C and a foundation for students hoping to enter Traineeships, Apprenticeships, TAFE and Tertiary Study. Students make Workplace Learning choices based upon their career test results and analysis undertaken in 1CCAE.
Currently over 530 businesses form our data base to provide exciting and valuable Workplace Learning for our senior students each year.
Workplace Learning is usually completed during school time and is assessed by employers in partnership with the school. A total of four weeks per year is allocated to Workplace Learning, two weeks twice as the practical component of unit 1CCAE.
University bound students can also choose to work with mentors in highly specialised fields. This mentoring often helps students decide on which universities and courses to focus. In addition, experience gained in hospitality and other placements can help university-bound students secure part-time work once they have moved to the city.
Once completed, Workplace Learning 1A or 1B becomes a bonus unit contributing to Secondary Graduation.
Please Note: It is automatic for all students studying Career and Enterprise 1C to undertake Workplace Learning (1AWPL/1BWPL) as the applied practicum component.
