What an impressive group of students!
We have changed our modus of operation, avoid elections and encourage participation. The council works in seven ‘department groups’, each led by a Year 12 student. Through engagement in leadership activities, the student councillors can earn their badge (rather than being given one). There are three Endorsed Programs on offer for the Years 10-12 councillors. We have fortnightly council meetings on Tuesday at lunchtimes in the library. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 23 March, to finalise the Harmony Week Free Dress day.
1) Containers for change: nine 10c container collection bins will be placed around the school next week (A HUGE THANKS TO IAN THWAITES FOR HIS SUPPORT AND INITIATIVE). Our goal is to collect $2000 worth of containers this year.
2) Harmony Week Free dress day, Friday, 26 March: the students are putting together a program to encourage positiveness around the school with colourful clothing, music and a collection of positive messages
3) Nola Marino visit: Nola Marino will be in the school at some stage this term to sit into a student council meeting and to talk to the students about leadership and personal development
4) SCRaM Peer Mediation: the 2021 SCRaM competition has commenced this week and the Years 9 & 10 councillors are currently learning peer mediation skills and preparing for the Round 1 adjudication
The councillors are:
Have a sensational day!
