The Margaret River SHS student leaders joined student representatives from local Primary School to review the Strengthening Youth Plan 2018-2022 of the Shire of Augusta and Margaret River on Monday, 3 May. The students were guided through the day by a professional facilitator Jaime Yallup and the Shire team responsible for youth, Stacey Hutt, Strategic Corporate and Community Planner, Jessica Black, Community Development Officer, Jason Cleary, Coordinator Community Planning & Development and Shannon Walker, the Community Development Trainee. The students identified key youth issues about living in the region such as public transport, cycle paths, mental health facilities and events. Then they road tested these based on the current budget and usage of Shire facilities and programs. It was a highly engaging, real-life learning opportunity for these young residents of our shire.
