The English Department would like the thank everyone who got involved with book week last week. We had 196 votes in the survey, as well as a great turn out at both Miss Sangmeister’s creative writing group and the book week parade today.

Scarily, one in five students in Australia are struggling at a Year 4 level of reading when they start high school. Creating engagement around events like book week are such a great way to combat this and ignite or foster a love of reading.

The top ten book as voted by staff and students are:

The Hunger Games Trilogy

Mortal Engines by Phillip Reeve

Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan

Tomorrow when the War Began by John Marsden

A Good Girls Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J K Rowling

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J K Rowling

The Maze Runner by James Dashner

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
