The Margaret River SHS Beat Sabre competition finished with the grand final this week. A total of 83 students participated in this semester-long competition. After several practice rounds and ten heats, the winners of each heat were invited to participate in the grand final. The event was held in the auditorium. There was a stage for the Virtual Reality competitors and a podium for the medal ceremony. Congratulations to Harrison Ogilby for winning the inaugural Beat Sabre school title. The silver medal went to Max Italiano and the bronze medal went to Evan Favazzo. Dylan Cartwright, who is ranked in the top 15 nationally, judged the competition, encouraged the participants, then demonstrated some of his amazing skills and finally presented the medals. Special thanks to Kate Marzohl-Duffy from Visual Arts for providing initial training and the VR equipment and to the Student Health and Well-being Initiative for providing funds.
