Margs' students carve a creative niche
Margaret River Senior High School’s Year 11 and 12 students will showcase creative art pieces at Jahroc Galleries for the Creating Identity exhibition this weekend.
The 19th annual exhibition showcases fine art, photography, woodwork, textiles, and metalwork as well as catering produced by students.
Visual arts teacher Caroline Juniper told the Times the aim of the exhibition was to expose students to the realities of preparing works and catering for an art exhibition.
Jahroc Galleries co-owner Jo Paris said the exhibition always showed an amazing standard of work. “The teachers manage an incredibly varied program, ” she said.
“The students get such a buzz from seeing their work in a commercial gallery.
“And they sell well, which is really great.”
The Creating Identity exhibition runs from 6.30pm tonight and will be open until 3pm on Sunday.
