International Relationships
Over the years Margaret River SHS has received the ongoing visits from international visitors.
Santa Laurensia School, Alam Sutera-Tangerang
Margaret River SHS has sister school exchange programs with schools in Indonesia and host an annual visit from Santa Laurensia School. School officials hope to further strengthen friendly ties that have already been established, thereby promoting international friendships and the sharing of educational strategies. This sister-school relationship is intended to assist students in both countries become prepared citizens for the future, not only with a broadened world-view and the accompanying understanding of other cultures, but also the language skills needed for successful interactions.
Margaret River SHS has been enjoying a very positive exchange program with Santa Laurensia School for many years. Each year in Term 1 a group of twenty Year 11 students and staff from Santa Laurensia spend two weeks in Margaret River. Students attend school with their host students, exchange culture and improve their English skills.
Aims of the Program
- To promote and foster greater cross-cultural understanding amongst our both Australian and Indonesian students and staff. This will be achieved via providing students in all years at Margaret River SHS with direct interaction with fellow students from Indonesia as they will be working and interacting with our students in all years.
- To enhance our Indonesian Language Program with native language speakers.
- To provide local families with a unique cultural experience.
- To provide the Indonesian students and staff with a taste of Australia and Australian culture.
Putra Sampoerna Foundation School Principals Visit
This year on May 9th and 10th Margaret River SHS received a visit from 9 principals from Putra Sampoerna Foundation, School Development Outreach Programs in which school principals taking part in the school activities at MRSHS for two days.
