Despite the cancellation of the official program, Year 10 students Eleanor Taylor and Mali Rosman took the initiative to explore La Reunion independently. Living with host families, Eleanor and Mali are currently fully immersed in the Reunionese culture, enhancing their language skills and deepening their understanding of French customs. They attend classes at a local school, forging connections with their Reunionese peers and gaining valuable insights into the educational system.
Outside the classroom, they explore the island’s breathtaking landscapes, from lush rainforests to majestic waterfalls and the impressive Piton de la Fournaise volcano. Eleanor and Mali’s dedication and resilience throughout this journey are truly inspiring, and their experiences will undoubtedly encourage other students to embrace opportunities for personal growth and cultural exchange.
I extend my gratitude to the host families for their warm hospitality. I eagerly anticipate Eleanor and Mali’s return, where they will share their remarkable adventures and continue to inspire our school community.
