2013 SunSmart WA School Surfing Titles
It was an epic finish to the SunSmart WA School Surfing Titles presented by Rip Curl, yesterday at Trigg Beach with the State Final wrapping up in summer like conditions following two weeks of qualifying rounds held across six different locations in WA.
A total of 28 regional and metropolitan high schools and 120 competitors made their way to a sunny Trigg Beach to compete in clean, highly contestable waves and battled it out for the prestigious title of ‘Champion Surfing School’.
Solid performances were seen all day across all divisions, however it was hard to go past Margaret River Senior High who surfed in six out of the eight finals across junior and senior girls and boys surfing and bodyboarding divisions, taking out five of those finals and ultimately see the star studded team continue their winning ways.
Taking home the champion school trophy for their eighth consecutive year, Margaret River had all bases covered with current U16 ISA World Junior Champion Jacob Willcox and current U21 Pro Junior State Champion Josh Burke taking charge in the Senior Boys Surfing division over Mandurah Catholic College and WA Junior State Team representatives Bailee Hastie and Luciana Burke in the Senior Girls Surfing coming out on top over Newman College.
